Why is it that people dread Monday but look forward to Friday? Why does the day of week dictate our attitude for that day? I guess I look at it as if I have another DAY…another day to do something with my life. To impact others in a positive way. To leave a little of me somewhere so that I essentially never die. But, every Monday is the same attitude at work. If I say, “How are you today?” The standard response is, “It’s Monday.” Part of me wants to say, “Yes, but what does that have to do with how you are?” Do you know what I am talking about? It amazes how much we let the outside world and all it brings to us, every day, influence how we feel and what actions we take. When are we going to realize that we have control over this…when work is just a part of life and not the other way around. We allow external factors to swallow us whole and we just keep fighting to get out of the grips that seem like they have a hold on us like no other. But if when we are swamped with things to do, people to see, books to write, etc, we choose how those things and people affect us. If it is important enough..not just kind of important…then you do what you have to do. You will have no choice but to come to the conclusion that something will have to change before you succumb to life. But as you tread water, are you making any headway or just pretty much trying to make it so you don’t drown? If what you are doing isn’t changing anything, then you had better change something. You will get tired of working so hard to get no where. Today is Monday and I am grateful for the opportunities yet to come my way as I embrace each new morning with vigor, excitement and joy. Others are not so lucky to have another day, but we do. What are you going to do with it? Are you going to complain about it being Monday or be grateful that you have another Monday to live? Have a great day!
