I have heard it said that water is our most precious resource and yet I believe time is our most valuable asset that is overly wasted or forgotten. Science can recreate water, but time cannot be altered or stopped. It is never manipulated to be different in any way. Time can be your allie or it can be your enemy. The measurement of time is with calendars and hours and minutes and yet it can never be replaced. Once it is gone, it is gone forever. Do you take the time you should to tell someone who you love them? If you knew that your time was limited, would you do all you could to get the most of the time you had? We all would. But we forget that our time is in fact limited and we get busy with life. Forgetting birthdays and anniversaries, and other special moments that connect us becomes a way of life instead of a one time mistake. It becomes easier to excuse the accountability required to think of others before we think of ourselves. Even if we can’t make the time for others we would like, we should still try to stay connected. We can be grateful for the time given or be upset that the time given wasn’t enough. Wouldn’t it be nice to have all the time in the world to do all the things we want to do? Pretty sure I would have some takers if I offered that up one day. Someone told me once that the greatest gift I could give to her was my time and I have never forgotten that. We all forget to give that gift to others most of our days. We hurry through the daily tasks we must carry out only to wonder how we spent our time during the day. Ironic, isn’t it? Slow down. One breath at a time. Pause to think of others. Give your time away. Let people become your priority and not checked off on a “to do” list. Time is precious…so precious that it is priceless.
