Courage is hard to come by sometimes and it can bring more trouble than it is worth at other times. But when you have a question aching inside that you need answered and you stand up to answer that question, that is when you find true strength. I recall the last scene in “Men of Honor” when Cuba Gooding Jr has to tak 12 steps in a brass naval diving suit with an artificial leg while Robert DeNiro barks order at him in front of Navy officers. Once Cuba is fitted into the suit, he has to rise to a standing position, without assistance. These scenes motivate me that nothing can keep me down and I will continue to stand up. Even when everything is standing in my way…even if people are not there to support me…even when I shake my head in disbelief. When you feel like there are hands pressing on your shoulders, and you can’t get rid of them, stand up. Fight the good fight. Do what is right and people will admire you more for being true than they will for following something you don’t believe in. When ideals and morals are all we have left to guide us in this world where power, money, and material things seem to be where people are headed, what choice are we left with? We are left with the only choice…stand up.
