They exist, whether we see them or not. Whether we want to see them is probably the bigger issue. Sometimes, we imagine that obstacles are there, and really they only exist in our head. Most of my obstacles like to live there…in my head. But only if I let them. I over analyze about something that has become a focus when I realize that I am looking at it in the wrong way. Probably my biggest obstacle that exists is my lack of available time to get done what needs to get done. This may be your biggest obstacle as well. We all have plans and goals in what we want to accomplish in certain amount of time and sometimes it just doesn’t happen. Life happens instead. Our list of stuff to do will never go away. Even when we finish one thing, there is another thing (or two) waiting to be done. Seeing the obstacles is one thing, but addressing them in the right way is just as important. Meeting uncomfortable situations head on takes less than time than running from them. What holds you back? Why? How much of that can you control? Are you trying to control too much? Challenges motivate me like no other — for me, I would rather try and fail than to never try at all. If I never try, then I never give myself a chance at success. I fail 100% of the time. If I won’t give myself a chance, why would anyone else? Obstacles are there to remind us that it is not easy and that there are those that will quit even before they start and those others that will give it a go. We are prevented with some limitations and I get that. Boy, do I get that…more than you know. But doing something (even if it is not exactly what you want to do) is better than doing nothing. I wish I had more time in my day, but I would just fill it up with something else that needs to be done. So for now, I get done what I can because life will continue to happen and obstacles will continue to lay themselves at my feet. I choose what happens next.
