QUIT! Why don’t you!

Quit.  Right now.  Not tomorrow.  Not later this week.  Quit.  I am not telling you again.  Whoa…whoa…whoa….wait…Michelle tells us to “never give up” and to “keep moving forward.”  Why would she want us to quit?  I want you to quit…

  • giving yourself a way out
  • finding the loopholes
  • excusing what you don’t do
  • delaying your dream
  • thinking it is not for you
  • being negative
  • caring less
  • loving even less than that
  • making it someone else’s issue
  • believing that it doesn’t matter

I could go on all day.  Yes…I want you to QUIT all of the above and more.  I want you to move.  I want you to get to the point when nothing…and I mean NOTHING…is going to stop you.  You are prepared to make mistakes, spend money on things that you thought would be great ideas, and look back it all and shake your head.  You get to that point….you know the one…where you are in it…FOR GOOD.  You commit to what you want and you just have to figure out how to get there.  Look, I don’t know the road I am travelling either.  I get lost, too.  I second guess just about everything I do, but I believe in the bigger picture so if the steps I take to get me there cause me to venture down a crooked path, then that is better than never having the courage to take a single step.  Why is it so easy to quit the things that are easy but hard to quit the things that are difficult?  The answer is in the question.  Our society has become lazy and has this sense of entitlement that discourages any of us that are “daring greatly” by showing our moxie.  We choose not to work hard for what we want and then, even when we get it, we are not sure that we even want it anymore.  And then, with little thought, we toss it out as if it never mattered in the first place.  The meaning behind the pursuit no longer generates the drive and spark it once did and we feel that we are left with nothing to show for it and we will be mocked for even trying in the first place.  Does this sound familiar?    Guess what…those people are everywhere.  So, I dare you to quit.  Quit… so that years down the road, the acid from the lost opportunities and regrets eat at your soul and you never consider how I all could have been different.  But, you still have a choice.  You can get in there and quit letting life run your soul into the ground and bury it deep beneath mounds of grime and negativity.  Or you can quit giving the rest of it an “out.”  You can make your life mean something.  You can inspire people with your talents.  You can change the way you think.  You can affect your future.  So…quit…why don’t you?  But “You gotta want it” by Jordin Sparks
