How many of us remember that elementary song, “If you’re happy and you know it…”? For those of you that don’t know it, you would sing, “If you’re happy and you know then your hands will surely show it…clap your hands.” Then, “your feet would show it” with “stomp your feet.” People I work with every day try to “sell” their happiness, but I don’t think they will even buy what they are selling. They have no one convinced that their day is really “going GREAT!” with the fake enthusiasm, it is almost sad. Yesterday, a friend told me that someone once asked her if she was happy and she said yes. The reply was, “Does your face know it?” Being happy is a CHOICE, people!!! It is not something you have to buy in a store or seek from someone else. You have to CHOOSE it. “Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.” – Albert Schweitzer They say that is takes more muscles to frown than it does to smile and that should tell you something. It is more difficult to be happy as well. Are you happy? Maybe not with everything, but generally speaking? I have friends that are experiencing some new big medical issues and they do not know where that road yet leads, but they are grateful for everything they have…even those that nor sure what their version of “normal” will be going forward. If you can say that you are blessed in your life for what you have and maybe don’t have, then let people know it. Pass that memo onto your face and share that with those around you. Last week, I was told by a co-worker to “smile” as he thinks that I have not been my normal self lately. I did not realize that anyone was paying attention, to be honest with you. But people are watching and learning and need to be reminded that life is here and you can be happy. I gave someone a book titled, “Live Happy” as she was struggling with moving on with her life. But, she eventually did and even shared it with her boyfriend who suggested it to his mom for her to read. Here is the irony…his mom is one of the ladies I work with that tries to “sell” me her “fake” happiness. If you are happy and you know it, then SHOW IT!!! Clap you hands…stomp your feet…and let your face know it too.
